Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin joins forces with India-based crypto fund Crypto Relief and Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal to contribute $100 million towards COVID-19 research and the development of medical infrastructure in India. This collaborative effort aims to address the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic and future global health risks.



Buterin, along with Nailwal, will receive a combined $90 million in USD Coin from Crypto Relief, supplemented by Buterin&#8217;s personal contribution of $10 million. The funds will be dedicated to critical initiatives, with the duo playing a pivotal role in their distribution and implementation.

The allocated funds will primarily support research into COVID-19 airborne transmission, focusing on enhancing medical equipment such as improved ventilation, HEPA filtering, and experimental technologies like UVC irradiation. Additionally, the initiative will prioritize research on &#8220;Long COVID,&#8221; aiming to address the long-term effects experienced by a significant number of individuals.



To facilitate the distribution and management of the donated funds, a Gnosis Safe wallet will be employed. This secure and transparent method ensures that the resources are effectively allocated to the intended recipients.



This generous donation is not an isolated act of philanthropy for Buterin. In a prior act of solidarity, he <a href="https://news.todayq.com/news/war-stricken-ukraine-finds-relief-from-the-pouring-crypto-donations/">donated</a> $5 million worth of Ether (ETH) to &#8220;Aid for Ukraine&#8221; to aid in Ukraine&#8217;s defense against Russia&#8217;s invasion in February 2022.
