Music company Napster and a metaverse-focused company TerraZero Technologies have partnered to develop a metaverse for artists. The initiative will focus on how fans and music artists will interact in a digital environment. Moreover, the project is also taking into consideration the monetization of content in the virtual world.

According to American technology website VentureBeat, the project initially partnered with musical artist Ric Wilson. Moreover, the partners believe that the move can help in making a transformative shift concerning fans’ engagement with “artists on a music digital service provider (DSP).”
Napster CEO Jon Vlassopulos said, “Napster has a rich history of empowering music artists, giving them innovative and creative ways to interact with their fans while also providing new monetization opportunities.” He further added, “Previously these kinds of virtual metaverse style worlds have only been available within platforms like Fortnite and Roblox but now anyone will be able to access these fun, engaging artist hangouts straight from their browser.”
The <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/01/17/bitgets-blockchain4her-to-eliminate-bias-in-web3-invested-10m/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">metaverse</a> is estimated to have a user base of over 400 Million people which is primarily dominated by Fortnite and Roblox. Although the data provided regarding the metaverse might be lacking given that research shows that Fortnite alone holds 650 Million registered users on the platform in 2023. Moreover, Roblox is estimated to have nearly 70 Million daily active users (DAUs) on the platform.
Top 10 metaverse concerts to this date have happened on these two platforms only. Travis Scott’s concert on Fortnite remains the biggest among them, garnering 47 Million views followed by Lil Nas X’s on Roblox which was held in partnership with Sony. 37 Million users saw it, majority of which belonged to an age group of 16 or under.
Combinedly, the top 10 metaverse music concerts have garnered over 185 Million views. Apart from the mentioned artists, other industry names include Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, 21 Pilots, and more. Additionally, companies including Warner Bros, Sony, and Universal also partnered with the artists for these events.

Following the launch of the project, Napster and TerraZero are planning to bring experiences including exclusive music, games, real-time interactions with artists and more. Artists are increasingly turning towards metaverse experiences to explore this still nascent technology. Veteran rap artist Snoop Dogg has his own virtual mansion in The Sandbox, a metaverse game.
