Circle, a leading stablecoin issuer, has officially expanded support for its <a href="https://coingape.com/paypal-stablecoin-eyes-integration-on-aave-protocol/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">USD Coin </a>(USDC) to include Ethereum’s zkSync, a zero-knowledge layer-2 solution. This move, announced on April 9, 2024, marks a significant enhancement for the ecosystem, enabling developers to utilize USDC on a scalable and efficient platform. The integration is expected to benefit a wide range of applications and <a href="https://coingape.com/top-defi-protocols/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">DeFi protocols</a> by facilitating payments, trading, and other financial services on a stable foundation.
With this expansion, USDC is now available on 16 blockchains, encompassing Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, and others.<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/circle/status/1777697959116988892"> Circle aims </a>to provide developers and businesses with a robust tool for building and expanding their applications. This initiative underscores Circle’s commitment to broadening the accessibility and utility of USDC across various blockchain networks.

zkSync’s technology, leveraging zero-knowledge proofs and rollups, is designed to enhance transaction speed and reduce costs by processing transactions off the Ethereum main layer. This integration with USDC promises to deliver significant efficiencies for users. As of the announcement, the zkSync ecosystem boasted over 180 decentralized applications and 5.7 million unique active wallet addresses in the preceding 30 days, indicating a strong and growing platform for developers and users alike.
The USDC on<a href="https://coingape.com/circle-usdc-set-to-transform-zksync-transactions/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> zkSync</a> retains its redeemability on a one-for-one basis for U.S. dollars through Circle and can be swapped for other USDCs across chains via cross-chain bridges.
