Io.net recently fell victim to a cybersecurity breach. According to reports, the attack was first detected early on April 25th when Io.net’s security systems spotted suspicious activity involving changes being made to GPU metadata. Io.net’s head of security, Husky.io, rapidly implemented new security measures to protect the network.

While the hackers could manipulate some device data, they were blocked from accessing the actual GPU hardware thanks to Io.net’s multilayered security permissions. The main security upgrades included scans, enhanced logging of unauthorized access attempts, and switching to stronger user authentication methods.
In the aftermath, an issue with Io.net’s rewards program coincided with the breach, causing a temporary drop from 600,000 to just 10,000 active GPU connections. However, Io.net has already launched a new rewards program to encourage more device owners to participate as it works to upgrade and reconnect systems.
