Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, disputed rumors that there may have been a database hack on Bitfinex, saying they were probably false.&nbsp;
Paolo made a <a href="https://twitter.com/paoloardoino/status/1786749876442722626" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">post</a> on the X regarding the database hack in which hackers allegedly uploaded two massive links with sample data that included 22.5k email addresses and passwords.
He made it clear that neither 2FA secrets nor plaintext passwords are kept to ease concerns over the security of user accounts. He added that just 5,000 of the 22,500 emails were to Bitfinex customers and said that even if the breach were real, its effects would be minimal.&nbsp;
Notably, the alleged hackers did not contact Bitfinex, raising doubts about the credibility of their claims. Paolo highlighted the absence of ransom demands through conventional channels like bug bounty, customer support tickets, or social media platforms.&nbsp;
Security researchers hyped the breach, but it appears the hackers collected data from various crypto breaches. Tether is conducting a thorough analysis of its systems and has found no breach. They assure users that funds are safe.
