The use of AI nearly doubled in six months, with 75% of global knowledge workers now utilizing AI tools at work, per Microsoft and LinkedIn’s 2024 report.

The report emphasizes the growing dependence on personal AI tools among employees dealing with heavy workloads. Despite this, some leaders hesitate due to pressure to show immediate returns on investment, even though AI integration seems inevitable. 
According to the <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/worklab/work-trend-index/ai-at-work-is-here-now-comes-the-hard-part/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">survey</a>, 90% of AI users found it time-saving, 85% could focus on crucial tasks, 84% felt more creative, and 83% enjoyed work more after using AI. 
Regarding company leaders, 79% believe AI adoption is crucial for competitiveness, but 59% struggle to quantify its productivity gains. AI adoption is widespread across age groups, with Gen Z leading at 85% usage, followed by Millennials at 78%, and Gen X at 76%. 
The report indicates that 45% worry about AI replacing jobs, but 46% are considering job changes for better opportunities, and LinkedIn reports a 14% increase in job applications per role since last fall, with 85% of professionals contemplating changing jobs this year. 
In simple terms, while many workers benefit from AI tools, some leaders are unsure about their immediate benefits, even though most agree on their importance for competitiveness.
