Linus Torvalds, the Finnish-American engineer who created the Linux operating system, does not believe in Cryptocurrency and has now claimed that it can be used for scams. In a <a href="https://www.realworldtech.com/forum/?threadid=217627&amp;curpostid=217694" target="_blank" rel="noopener">forum post</a>, the 54-year-old tech pioneer compared cryptocurrency to Ponzi schemes, which deceive unsuspecting people. 
Torvalds, who is also the brain behind the distributed version control system Git, humorously added that he places cryptocurrencies in the same mythical category as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. His comments come amidst discussions in the tech community, including speculations wrongly suggesting he might be Satoshi Nakamoto, the ambiguous founder of Bitcoin. 
Dismissing these rumors, Torvalds clarified that his name had been humorously linked to Bitcoin in a Linux kernel edit, which he dismissed as a ‘joke.’ He assured that he does not own a substantial Bitcoin fortune and reiterated his stance on the implausibility of such claims. 
His insights go beyond cryptocurrencies, addressing the idea of technological singularity, which he views as more science fiction than a real possibility. Torvalds remains a pivotal figure in technology, often sparking discussions with his straightforward and critical perspectives on emerging trends.
