<p>Vitalik Buterin reveals a comprehensive technique for increasing consent and decentralization in the Ethereum network. Buterin explained his strategy at an Ethereum developer interop event in Kenya.</p>
<p>Buterin outlined several significant upcoming improvements such as PeerDAS, Verkle tree transition, and decentralized historical data storage under EIP 4444. These developments promise to improve the experience not only for node operators but also for L1 and L2 users.</p>
<p>Buterin began his discussion by focusing on the broader technical capacity that has recently been increased in the <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/ethereums-dencun-upgrade-set-to-revolutionize-ecosystem-altcoins-on-the-rise/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum ecosystem</a>. He was responding to concerns from Geth core developer Peter Szilagyi about the current direction of the Ethereum project, which Buterin said was not as dire as suggested.</p>

<p>Instead, Buterin proposed realistic adjustments to the current roadmap to address these issues. At the heart of Buterin’s argument is the ongoing Miner Extractable Value <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/vitalik-buterin-champions-open-internet-through-blockchain/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">(MEV) issue</a>. Historically, Ethereum blocks were created by miners using a direct algorithm. However, when complex strategies exploiting the ordering of transactions within blocks emerge, the fairness of block production is reduced.</p>
<p>To address growing concerns around MEV, Ethereum has considered minimizing MEV through protocols such as encrypted mem pools and quarantining MEV by separating block proposers from transaction voters through an auction protocol known as proposer/builder separation (PBS).</p>

<p>Buterin suggests further minimizing builder power in MEV scenarios by using inclusion lists. This list ensures that certain transactions must be included in the block, thus preventing the possibility of strategic exclusion of transactions. Buterin advocates a major reduction in builder influence, imagining a scenario where builders are more constrained while maintaining their functionality.</p>
<p>The next segment of Buterin’s plan discusses the challenges and future of Ethereum staking. Despite the growth of staking solutions provided by entities such as Lido and RocketPool, most Ethereum staking is still not solo due to the 32 ETH minimum and associated technical challenges.</p>
<p>Buterin’s goal is to encourage a stronger solo staking ecosystem, which he believes is essential to maintaining Ethereum’s decentralization. He pointed to several initiatives aimed at reducing the technical and financial barriers to solo staking, including the implementation of Verkle trees and EIP-4444.</p>
<p>This technology promises to drastically reduce data storage requirements for nodes, thereby simplifying the staking process and increasing the viability of the Ethereum light client. Buterin also touched on the importance of easily accessible node operations in the Ethereum network.</p>
<p>The ultimate goal is to enable nodes to run on minimal hardware, potentially as low as a smartphone, through enhancements such as Type 1 ZK-EVM that allow users to verify blockchain operations without performing heavy EVM calculations. This vision, often referred to as “The Verge,” aims to decentralize responsibility for defending the state and provides evidence of a centralized large actor.</p>
<p>As Ethereum evolves under Vitalik Buterin’s guidance, the future appears bright. His vision for enhanced decentralization, efficient staking mechanisms, and simplified node operations promises a resilient and scalable Ethereum ecosystem. With groundbreaking advancements on the horizon, Ethereum stands poised to maintain its position as a leader in the crypto industry, fostering innovation and inclusivity for all participants.</p>
