In a landmark ruling, Judge James Mellor <a href="https://x.com/opencryptoorg/status/1792492482627809627">released </a>his written judgment on the high-profile case between the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) and Craig Wright. The case revolved around Wright’s controversial claim of being Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin (BTC).&nbsp; 
Judge Mellor’s judgment was unequivocal, stating that Wright had lied extensively and repeatedly in his written and oral testimonies during the proceedings. He further noted that Wright’s behavior under oath was inconsistent with someone who genuinely held the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. 
<h2 id="b-craig-wright-is-not-satoshi-b">Craig Wright is not Satoshi</h2> 
In his claim, Wright said he created the Bitcoin File Format while writing the code for the Bitcoin System. He also alleges that the first block in the Bitcoin Blockchain is a special block known as the “Genesis Block.” 
Craig Wright has tried several tricks to be recognized as Satoshi Nakamoto. He has been <a href="https://thecoinrise.com/just-how-bad-is-craig-wright-at-plagiarism/">accused of plagiarism several times</a>, from moving Satoshi’s coin to signing a message with his private key. While his claim as the Bitcoin creator has received widespread debunking and rejection from the Bitcoin community, there is no hard proof to back it up. 
However, the judgment reinforces the skepticism many in the crypto community have harbored towards Wright’s assertions.

A tell-tale sign is the use of both “we” and “I” in the Bitcoin white paper. Experts said it hints at the possibility of a team operating under a singular pseudonym. This cast doubts on Wright’s claims.

McCormack’s unwavering commitment to truth and accountability has been vindicated by the court’s decision, setting a precedent for others to follow suit.
