Rui-Siang Lin, a Taiwanese national, was apprehended at John F. Kennedy Airport for allegedly masterminding Incognito Market, a dark web platform facilitating illegal drug sales globally.&nbsp; 
Lin, operating under the pseudonym Pharoah, is accused of overseeing Incognito Market’s operations, including vendor management and financial transactions. The market, active from October 2020 to March 2024, <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/incognito-market-owner-arrested-operating-one-largest-illegal-narcotics-marketplaces" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> traded over $100 million worth of narcotics, including cocaine and methamphetamines, via the dark web.&nbsp; 
Incognito Market functioned similarly to legitimate e-commerce platforms, offering various narcotics, misbranded prescription drugs, and fraudulent medication listings. Lin is reported to have made money through vendor fees and a cryptocurrency-based banking system that guaranteed anonymity to buyers and sellers. 
The arrest came after coordinated investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the Food and Drug Administration Office of Criminal Investigations (FDA-OCI) under the framework of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation.&nbsp; 
All these charges, especially engaging in a criminal enterprise, narcotics conspiracy, money laundering, and conspiracy to sell adulterated medication, come with lengthy sentences even in cases of first-time offenders.
