Several <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/russias-bitcoin-gold-rush-mining-machine-influx-outpaces-rest-of-the-world/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin miners</a> met with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, according to Matthew Schultz, executive chairman at <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/cleanspark-doubles-down-on-bitcoin-mining-with-55m-expansion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CleanSpark</a> Inc. Trump expressed his support for cryptocurrency, stating that Bitcoin miners help stabilize the energy grid. He promised to advocate for miners if elected to the White House, according to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-06-12/trump-meets-bitcoin-btc-miners-in-his-latest-pro-crypto-overture?srnd=materials" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bloomberg</a>.
In a Truth Social post, Trump called Bitcoin mining a potential defense against central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and emphasized his desire for Bitcoin to be "MADE IN THE USA!!!"
Trump has recently increased his focus on Bitcoin and digital assets to attract new voters. He has taken advice from Elon Musk and promised at a Libertarian Party convention to commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht, founder of the Silk Road marketplace. His campaign now also accepts crypto donations.
Jason Les, CEO of Riot Platforms Inc., also met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. This meeting comes amid criticism of <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/hut-8s-q2-2023-a-bitcoin-mining-marvel/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">crypto miners</a> for their environmental impact and energy consumption, with Democrats pushing for more scrutiny.&nbsp;
Trump's campaign advisor Brian Hughes stated that Trump is ready to encourage American leadership in emerging technologies, contrasting with President Biden's regulatory approach. The US has become the epicenter of Bitcoin mining since <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/immersion-cooling-transforms-chinas-crypto-mining-landscape/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">China</a> enforced a ban in 2021.
