The health of detained Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan is deteriorating. According to a statement by his family, the crypto exchange’s head of financial crime compliance complained of numbness in his foot as well as back pain. He is also said to have had double pneumonia and malaria. 
During a sitting at the federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, the court was also made aware that, despite several court orders, the prison where Tigran Gambaryan is being held has not released the medical records from his only visit to the hospital, which took place a month ago.&nbsp;Justice Emeka Nwite ordered that the medical reports be made available to Gambaryan’s lawyers by Friday. 
The court witnessed the cross-examination of a witness from the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – the first witness presented by the EFCC in the ongoing trial. Tigran’s lawyer began and ended his cross-examination of the witness on Tuesday. And, Binance’s lawyers finished a cross-examination of the witness the day before. 
In an official statement shared with Technext, Yuki Gambaryan, Tigran’s wife, urged the EFCC to follow the example set by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and drop the charges against Tigran: 
“Each day that Tigran remains detained becomes increasingly difficult for our family and especially for him. He is suffering immensely under the strain of this injustice. I respectfully urge the EFCC to follow the example set by their colleagues at the FIRS (tax authority) and drop the charges against Tigran. As I have stated many times before and as the evidence in court is showing, Tigran has never been a decision-maker at Binance, and there is no justification for his continued detention. It is time for the Nigerian authorities to do the right thing and release my innocent husband. This situation has gone too far”, she said.

Recall that two U.S. members of Congress- Representative French Hill (Republican) and Representative Chrissy Houlahan (Democrat)- visited Gambaryan in June and urged the U.S. to take further action. 
According to Hill’s X&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/repfrenchhill/status/1803898800966091087?s=46%3A" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">post</a>, the Representatives found out that Tigran is suffering from health implications as a result of the unpalatable conditions of the detention facility. He “has malaria and double pneumonia, and he reports that he has lost significant weight. Even worse, he’s being denied access to adequate medical attention.“ 
Both representatives jointly called for his immediate release so he can be reconciled with his family: 
“Tigran has devoted his professional life to fighting money laundering and tax evasion, having spent ten years as an IRS Special Agent where he successfully led cyber and financial crime investigations.&nbsp;He&nbsp;must be immediately granted a humanitarian release, the remaining charges dropped, and he must return home to America where he belongs”, they asked of the Nigerian government.

<h5 id="tigran-gambaryan-lingering-case-with-nigeria" class="wp-block-heading">Tigran Gambaryan Lingering Case with Nigeria</h5> 
Recall that Tigran petitioned an Abuja Federal High Court to order the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) of Nigeria and its anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to pay compensation costs for his prolonged detention in the country. 
Gambaryan claims his detention violated his rights and was used to pressure Binance, causing hardship to his family.

This follows an amendment to an original motion to enforce his fundamental human rights, which was filed in May. He also asked the court to perpetually restrain the security agencies from further detaining him for any investigation into the activities of the cryptocurrency exchange platform. 
On June 14th, the charges brought by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) of Nigeria against Tigran (and his colleague Nadeem Anjarwalla) were dropped. The FIRS agreed to revise their charges to serve solely on Binance through its local representative. The court adjourned the hearing to July 12th and Tigran will no longer need to appear in court for the FIRS case.
