President Joe Biden’s odds of reelection in the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election have nosedived to a mere 10% on the decentralized prediction wager platform Polymarket. As of now, his chances are hovering between 10-11% on the platform’s collective $226 million “Presidential Election Winner 2024” market. The dismal odds of Biden come amid growing speculation that Vice President Kamal Harris might replace him as the Democratic candidate. 
Former President Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate, <a href="https://polymarket.com/event/presidential-election-winner-2024?tid=1720160440182" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">commands</a> formidable 61% odds, while Harris trails with 17%. PredictIt, another major prediction platform, reflects similar sentiments: Biden’s share prices have fallen from $0.25 to $0.0015, with Harris now emerging as the leading Democratic contender. Trump’s “Yes” shares remain the highest valued at $0.58. 
These developments come amid increasing media scrutiny and public concern about Biden’s fitness for a second term. During a White House meeting on July 3, Biden <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2024/07/04/politics/biden-governors-sleep/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">reportedly</a> joked, “I’m fine — I don’t know about my brain, though,” sparking further worries among U.S. governors.&nbsp; 
Additionally, Biden’s decision to avoid scheduling events after 8 pm to get more sleep and a gaffe where he mistakenly described himself as the “first black woman” to serve as U.S. President have only fueled doubts about his candidacy. 
Polymarket now indicates a 66% chance that Biden will drop out before the November 4 election, with Harris being the most likely Democrat to face off against Trump. Despite the mounting pressure, Biden has repeatedly stated he has no intention of stepping down, declaring, “I’m not going anywhere,” during an Independence Day <a href="https://www.voanews.com/a/i-m-not-going-anywhere-biden-tells-july-4-crowd-/7686025.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">speech</a> at the White House. 
As the race heats up, neither Biden nor Trump have addressed Bitcoin or digital assets in their campaigns. The two are scheduled for a final presidential debate on September 10, where these issues might finally come to the fore. For now, the political landscape remains as volatile as ever, with Biden’s future hanging in the balance.
