<a href="https://optimisus.com/market/market-news/vitalik-buterin-urges-the-crypto-community-to-support-politicians/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Vitalik Buterin, one of the co-founders of Ethereum</a>, has recently unveiled Circle STARKs, a novel cryptographic protocol aimed at enhancing the efficiency and security of blockchain technology.  
The protocol use smaller fields, such as Mersenne31, to enhance the speed of proving while maintaining the same level of security. Circle STARKs differ from traditional STARKs by utilizing smaller fields, which leads to reduced computational expenses, faster proof generation rates, and improved efficiency improvements.  
Previously, STARK implementations attempted to provide compatibility between smaller fields and the verification of elliptic curve-based signatures. However, this approach resulted in inefficiencies due to the involvement of big integers.  
Circle STARKs reduce the vulnerability to brute-force attacks by augmenting the number of values that attackers must guess through the use of extension fields and random verifications.  
This security method ensures the integrity of the protocol and creates a barrier that is computationally difficult for attackers to overcome. Circle STARKs utilizes the Fast Reed-Solomon Interactive Oracle Proofs of Proximity (FRI) to verify that non-polynomial inputs are rejected by the proof. Circle STARKs, a new mathematical framework, offers enhanced adaptability and efficiency in processing performance, representing a substantial breakthrough in blockchain technology.
