<p>A red notice is seeking the arrest of <a href="https://www.interpol.int/en/How-we-work/Notices/Red-Notices/View-Red-Notices#2024-44200" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Wong Ching-kit issued by Interpol</a>.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="the-fraud-allegations">The Fraud Allegations</h2>
<p>Fraud, theft, and deception are the crimes he is accused of. We have HK$3 million (approximately $384,000) involved in the deception case productions. The reason for the issuance of the red notice was not made clear by Interpol but according to the South China Morning Post, an unnamed source mentioned that Wong is being investigated, in fact, some ongoing investigations by Hong Kong’s commercial crime bureau involve him. These investigations, however, are not limited to this being a major crypto fraud case.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="a-history-of-controversy">A History of Controversy</h2>
<p>Wong is not a new figure in the <a href="https://btc-pulse.com/binance-gamefi-platform-telegram-web3-game-catizen/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">cryptocurrency </a>scene and he has always been controversial from the beginning of 2019. He was accused of the scam where he collected people’s money as an investment through mining electricity chips using a token referred to as “Filecoin.” There is still a cloud of doubt whether the two are related to Juan Benet’s founding of the original Filecoin network. Currently, Wong’s last whereabouts are unknown, which is another factor for the urgency of the red notice.</p>

<p>It is an alert for law enforcement agencies all over the world that enables them to locate and provisionally arrest individuals that are pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal matters. It is a message that comes with basic identification and legal <a href="https://btc-pulse.com/jpmorgan-analysts-doubt-sustainability-crypto/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">information </a>about the person. Thus, it can help law enforcement officers from different parts of the world to catch the escaped prisoners.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="recent-similar-cases">Recent Similar Cases</h2>
<p>Back in 2022, Interpol published a Red notice for Do Kwon, South Korean Terraform Labs co-founder and urged every country to detain him wherever he is found. Having gotten arrested in March 2023 in Podgorica airport with a fake passport while trying to reach Dubai, Kwon presented a living example of Interpol’s red notice system that has proven its effectiveness and prevalence worldwide.</p>
