Automatically generated emojis no longer accompany bitcoin and crypto hashtags on the Elon Musk-owned social application X, despite having some of the largest active cryptocurrency communities. 
Crypto users on X&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/i/trending/1816759786119266815" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">complained</a>&nbsp;early Friday that they could no longer see emojis when posting “#bitcoin” on the service. Some later found out that hashtags for #bnbchain and #cryptocom, which also showed emojis, no longer display the brand images. Other crypto assets like Ethereum also saw their emojis revoked by the X team.  
According to popular crypto media platform, <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2024/07/26/elon-musks-x-quietly-removes-bitcoin-maga-emojis-from-hashtags/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coindesk</a>, X did not publicly announce the removal on its own accounts or press pages. This development follows the successful execution of the much-anticipated Bitcoin Conference 2024 which kicked off in Nashville on July 25. Former U.S. President, Donald Trump is expected to speak at the conference today. 
The Bitcoin emojis were first introduced in 2020 when Jack Dorsey owned X, then known as Twitter. Dorsey tried to popularize the bitcoin symbol to Unicode, a text encoding standard maintained by the Unicode Consortium designed to support the use of text in all of the world’s writing systems that can be digitized. 
Dorsey was a high-profile advocate of cryptocurrency. His payments platform Square has&nbsp;supported&nbsp;bitcoin trading since 2014 and&nbsp;patented&nbsp;a new fiat-crypto payment gateway after the COVID pandemic.

Twitter<a href="https://www.mobilemarketer.com/ex/mobilemarketer/cms/news/messaging/22215.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&nbsp;charges&nbsp;</a>companies up to $1 million for them to add a branded emoji or symbol after a designated hashtag to help differentiate their branding from that of their competitors, helping to create a buzz amongst consumers. 
Popular branded hashtags in the past have been #PokemonLetsGo, which was purchased in late 2018, as well as #Coca-Cola during a marketing campaign in 2015. These are generally temporary, though, lasting only until the end of the marketing campaign. 
According to the publication, the emoji for #MAGA that previously featured Republican candidate Donald Trump was also removed ahead of his scheduled appearance at the ongoing Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville by the early hours of today.
