In a move that has sent shockwaves through the crypto community, former U.S. President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced the launch of limited edition Bitcoin-themed sneakers. The announcement comes just days after Trump delivered a keynote address at the highly anticipated Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee. 
Trump took to his preferred social media platform, Truth Social, to unveil the exclusive footwear, stating, “Just spoke at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday. Get your Bitcoin Sneakers now. These are Limited Edition, they are each numbered, and you can now pay with Bitcoin or your favorite Crypto.” 
During his keynote speech at the conference, Trump made several bold promises should he be elected as president in November. He vowed to fire SEC chair Gary Gensler and put an end to the U.S. government’s plans to sell its bitcoin holdings, instead opting to create a “strategic bitcoin reserve.” 
The former president’s foray into the world of Bitcoin-inspired merchandise is not entirely unexpected, as he has previously been associated with the sale of NFT collections featuring his own likeness. Additionally, Trump’s campaign has been accepting political donations made in various cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin. 
As the 2024 presidential race heats up, Trump’s decision to capitalize on the growing popularity of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is sure to generate significant interest and debate within the crypto community and beyond. The limited edition sneakers are expected to be in high demand, with each pair being individually numbered and purchasable using Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies of choice.
