<p>Coinbase's Chief Legal Officer, Paul Grewal, disclosed on X that the SEC responded to their July 24 document <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/coinbase-sues-u-s-sec-and-fdic-over-denied-document-access/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">request</a> to clarify the SEC's approach to digital assets and regulatory authority. According to Coinbase's legal team, these documents will be essential to their defence in a trial in which they are charged with operating without the necessary registrations.</p>

<p>The legal conflict began last year when the SEC charged Coinbase with functioning as an unregistered securities exchange, broker, and clearing agency. The allegations also involved selling unregistered securities through its staking products.
