<p>Pump Fun, a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/08/08/solana-meme-coins-skyrocket-30-poodlana-rides-the-momentum-past-5-4-million/">meme coin launchpad based in Solana</a>, has made some big changes that could affect the meme coin environment. </p> 
<p>The platform became very popular during the meme coin craze. It is now giving away free token launches and a reward of 0.5 SOL ($80). This is being given to creators who make it through the token bonding curve. Creators get it as soon as get their tokens listed on the Raydium decentralized exchange (DEX).</p> 
<p>In the latest update to Pump Fun, creators no longer have to pay the $2 fee to the platform. Currently, the first buyer pays for launching a meme coin, so creators don’t have to pay anything to get their coins onto the market.</p> 
<p>The platform’s choice to get rid of the launch fee comes with a growing interest in Pump Fun. The popularity has come due to its easy-to-use interface and the Solana blockchain’s low transaction costs. </p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pump-fun-0-5-sol-reward-for-bonding-curve-completion"><strong>Pump Fun 0.5 SOL Reward for Bonding Curve Completion</strong></h2> 
<p>In a post on August 9 on X (formerly Twitter), Pump Fun announced that creators will now get 0.5 SOL. It is conditional on whether their tokens make it through the bonding curve and are launched on Raydium.</p>

<p>The bonding curve model is a fundamental component of how the platform works. It makes sure that there is always liquidity for a token once it hits a certain market cap, in this case, $63,000. This model makes price increases predictable and makes sure that tokens can still be sold even if their value drops.</p> 
<p>The 0.5 SOL reward is designed to encourage creators to see their projects through to completion. Also provides a financial incentive to build tokens that can survive and thrive in the competitive meme coin market. This reward also serves as a potential deterrent against creators who might otherwise abandon their projects before they reach maturity.</p>

Rug pulls are a typical problem in the meme coin market. Rug pulls happen when makers or big holders of tokens sell off all of their holdings after the price of the token has been artificially inflated. This leaves other investors with worthless assets.</p> 
<p>The 0.5 SOL reward might encourage creators to keep progressing with their projects. However, it doesn’t eliminate the risk of rug pulls, especially after a token has completed its bonding curve.</p>

<p>In an Aug. 1 post on X, Cinneamhain Ventures partner Adam Cochran&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/adamscochran/status/1819053020761526470">noted</a>&nbsp;that only about 1.4% of coins on Pump Fun successfully reach the $69k mark and get listed on a decentralized exchange, indicating a stagnant “graduation rate.” </p> 
<p>With 98.6% of tokens failing to launch, Pump Fun’s new incentives are a step in the right direction, but further measures may be needed to fully safeguard the platform’s users.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-pump-fun-s-growing-influence-in-the-crypto-space"><strong>Pump Fun’s Growing Influence in the Crypto Space</strong></h2> 
<p>The platform, which rolled out in January 2024, was meant to be different from the usual.</p> 
<p>Their approach resonated with the crypto community, as evidenced by Pump Fun’s revenue figures. On July 29, the platform’s daily revenue eclipsed that of the Ethereum network, bringing in $864,000 in just 24 hours, compared to Ethereum’s $550,000. </p> 
<p>This revenue is largely driven by the 1% fee Pump Fun charges on all trades, a model that has proven highly lucrative as the meme coin craze continues to surge.</p>
