Connecticut State Police (<a href="https://www.cspnews.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CSP</a>), in collaboration with the Statewide Prosecution Bureau, said on Wednesday that they have successfully recovered over $63,500 for a victim of a cryptocurrency phishing scam.&nbsp;
The incident, reported in April by a Cheshire resident, involved the loss of over $68,000 in cryptocurrency through a fraudulent scheme offering new tokens.&nbsp;
Utilizing blockchain analytics, CSP detectives traced the stolen funds to the suspect’s digital wallet, where most of the cryptocurrency remained. Legal actions led to the seizure of more than $63,500, which was then returned to the victim after a motion was filed in Meriden Superior Court.&nbsp;
The ongoing investigation has uncovered multiple victims across the United States.&nbsp;
The CSP Cryptocurrency Working Group warns residents to avoid unsolicited offers related to cash, cryptocurrency, or investments and advises against sharing personal or financial information with unknown individuals.&nbsp;
Potential fraud victims are urged to contact the CSP via email.
