<p>Yuga Labs, the digital asset incubation studio and the team behind a variety of non-fungible token collections, including the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs, has successfully tested its first poker tournament on its metaverse gaming venture, Otherside. The digital asset firm tested its poker tournaments yesterday night.</p>

<p>In an August 22 blog post, Yuga Labs, through its Otherside X account, confirmed that it has successfully tested its first poker tournament on Otherside. Capetain Trippy, an NFT investor and ApeChain advisor, has emerged as the winner in the recent poker tournament. Yuga Labs has pledged $45,000 to the winner’s charity of choice.</p>

<h2 id="otherside-mataverse-explained">Otherside Mataverse Explained</h2> 
<p>The Otherside metaverse is a world-building metaverse platform based on the Ethereum blockchain network. Otherside is one of the most ambitious interactive metaverse projects to date, combining the possibilities of MMORPGs like the World of Warcraft and blockchain metaverses like the Sandbox and Decentraland.</p> 
<p>The Otherside is built with the community, rebelling against traditional walled gardens in gaming spaces. Players within the Otherside can explore the metaverse world as an NFT avatar and engage and compete with other players. They can also purchase virtual lands (Otherdeed) and acquire resources to build and monetize various tools and objects.</p> 
<p>Otherside launched its “First Trip” to the metaverse world in July 2022. Fast forward to 2023, Yuga Labs launched its “Second Trip” on March 25. The trip included a two-hour narrative experience led by four Otherside team captains. Last month, Yuga Labs launched its Project Dragon, a massively multiplayer event with thousands of players competing across Meetropolis. Now that Yuga Labs has tested its first poker tournament, it anticipates launching another episode next week.</p>
