<h4><strong>The deepfake, aired on YouTube, targeted viewers with a common “double-your-money” crypto scam. </strong></h4> 
<p>In these fraudulent live streams, the AI-generated Cook urged viewers to send Bitcoin to a specific address. He promised to return double the amount in a classic crypto scam.</p>

<p>The scam coincided with Apple’s official “Glowtime” event, during which the tech giant introduced its latest iPhone models. The scammers sought to capitalize on the immense attention the event generated. With fake streams surfacing alongside the genuine Apple broadcast on YouTube.</p> 
<p>Some of these streams were deceptively presented as coming from “Apple US” and featured a verified account checkmark. This adds an extra layer of credibility to the fraudulent content.</p>

<p>In one scam stream, the fake Cook told viewers to deposit Bitcoin, promising Apple would double the amount. The message echoed the typical rhetoric of crypto scams, promising lucrative returns while stealing users’ funds.</p>

<p>According to screenshots shared on X (formerly Twitter), some of these scam streams attracted hundreds of thousands of views. However, it is believed that many of these views were generated by bots to make the stream appear legitimate.</p>
