Soneium, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain created by Sony Block Solutions Labs has officially integrated Chainlink Scale program. This means that Soneium is now using Chainlinks decentralized infrastructure in its platform. 
The goal of this move is to improve Soneium’s decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem. That is by offering developers trustworthy data feeds and enhanced compatibility across different blockchains. 
The announcement made this week represents a significant milestone in Soneium’s mission to foster a more developer friendly environment.

Chainlink Data Feeds, widely used across the blockchain industry by major networks like Base, Starknet, and Sonic Labs, will now be available on Soneium’s Minato testnet. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-strengthening-soneium-s-ecosystem">Strengthening Soneium’s Ecosystem</h2> 
By incorporating Chainlink Data Feeds Soneium developers will gain access to trustworthy real world data. And this data is essential for creating decentralized applications reliant on accurate external information. 
The <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/08/26/chainlink-role-in-crypto-market-stability-what-are-the-alternatives/">decentralized oracle network</a> provides tools for dApp development ranging from price feeds to triggers for external events. This is particularly beneficial in industries such as decentralized finance (DeFi) and gaming. 
Jun Watanabe, the Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs emphasizes that Chainlinks reputation for reliability and security guarantees a strong infrastructure for Soneiums users. Watanabe states,

Additionally, the integration includes Chainlinks Cross Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which will serve as Soneiums primary cross chain infrastructure. 
CCIP facilitates communication and transaction execution, across multiple blockchains improving Soneiums capacity to function within a blockchain ecosystem. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-enabling-cross-chain-interoperability">Enabling Cross-Chain Interoperability</h2> 
Soneium is set to boost its ability to operate across different blockchain networks by integrating Chainlinks CCIP. This move will allow applications on Soneium to seamlessly interact with other blockchains. Which will potentially increase liquidity, user engagement and the overall functionality of decentralized applications on the platform. 
Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, emphasized the importance of this integration. He said,

The trend towards interoperability is gaining momentum in the blockchain space. And developers strive to create applications that can work across multiple networks. 
Soneium’s decision to implement CCIP positions it well in this movement, making it more attractive to developers looking for flexible options. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-chainlink-scale-program-and-cost-efficiency">Chainlink Scale Program and Cost Efficiency</h2> 
Within the Chainlink Scale program, Soneium will incur lower costs of Chainlink’s oracle services. That program consists of covering such operational expenses that allow looking for quality productive oracle services from the surroundings at an even lower price. 
More recently, as the ecosystem grows and matures, it is anticipated that these costs will be covered by revenue derived from users of the decentralized applications by user fees. 
Other <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2024/08/28/avalanche-and-chainlink-bags-top-exchange-listing-avax-and-link-rebound-soon/">blockchains from Avalanche</a>, Metis and Starknet have also signed up for the Chainlink Scale program. This points to the acceptance of the program among Layer-2 and decentralized networks. Chainlink’s infrastructure has supported over $14 trillion in transaction value. 
Soneium which started operations in August 2024 is part of the <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2023/02/19/sony-groups-division-comes-with-astar-network-to-launch-web3-incubation-program/">Sony Block Solutions Labs</a> project to make Web3 the norm. The infrastructure is envisaged to have the capacity to process high volumes of transactions, to facilitate advanced features and applications, and to provide an easy interface integration for developers and users.
