The fortune of <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/rossiya-sravnyalas-s-ssha-po-tempam-rosta-majninga-kriptovalyut/">BitRiver</a> CEO Igor Runets is estimated at $230 million, reflecting the rapid growth of his company and the <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/texas-residents-challenge-bitcoin-mining-industrys-impact-on-power-grid-and-communities/">mining industry</a> in Russia. BitRiver operates 15 <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-miners-shift-gears-ai-is-the-new-gold-rush/">data centers</a> with a capacity exceeding 500 MW, attracting clients from the U.S., <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/immersion-cooling-transforms-chinas-crypto-mining-landscape/">China</a>, and other countries. 
A Stanford graduate, Runets founded the company in 2017, recognizing the potential of Siberia's cheap <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/minnesota-man-faces-accusations-of-electricity-theft-for-bitcoin-mining/">electricity</a> and cold climate. Last year, BitRiver's revenue increased by almost 60%, highlighting the firm's success in a rapidly evolving sector. 
According to Runets, Russia's mining growth is now outpacing the U.S., and the country could become a world leader in this field. Russia's total mining capacity is around 2.5 gigawatts and continues to grow.
