The town of Massena in New York has adopted new regulations for Bitcoin mining, ending a years-long moratorium. The new rules prohibit the use of shipping containers as infrastructure to house <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/immersion-cooling-transforms-chinas-crypto-mining-landscape/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">mining equipment</a>.
Mining operations can now be established only in industrial zones and must comply with new noise standards and other requirements. This decision paves the way for companies like Coinmint, which plans to invest $100 million and create around 100 jobs.
Massena had been imposing a moratorium on mining since 2018, extending it quarterly or semi-annually, while awaiting the development of regulations.
