Hurricane Helene has dealt a severe blow to mining company <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/cleanspark-doubles-down-on-bitcoin-mining-with-55m-expansion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CleanSpark</a>. The forced shutdown of 365 MW capacities in Georgia led to a decrease in <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitcoin-miners-set-for-a-tough-ride-as-2024-halving-nears-jp-morgan/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">hash rate</a> from 28 EH/s to 10.5 EH/s.
The company reported that about 65% of their operations were suspended. This resulted in a 50% reduction in Bitcoin <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitcoin-miners-set-for-a-tough-ride-as-2024-halving-nears-jp-morgan/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">production</a> during the week following the hurricane.
Despite this, CleanSpark plans a swift recovery of capacities. Within 24 hours after the hurricane, they managed to bring 200 MW back online, increasing the hash rate to 22 EH/s.
