Alphabet Inc.’s Google and OpenAI competition in mimicking human reasoning abilities using artificial intelligence (AI) seems to be intensifying. 
According to a recent report from <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-10-02/google-is-working-on-reasoning-ai-chasing-openai-s-efforts?srnd=phx-ai&amp;embedded-checkout=true" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Bloomberg</a>, Google is working harder on improving its AI models that can handle complex tasks, especially in areas like maths and computer programming. However, OpenAI has made progress in this area with its latest model, called “o1”. 
Both companies are using a technique called “chain-of-thought prompting.” which allows the AI to take some extra time to think through a problem before responding. The extra time helps the AI to consider a number of related promts and then summarize them into a response. This is a game-changer because it helps the AI come up with better answers. Unfortunately, both Google and OpenAI are using this technique. 
Google has been taking steps to strengthen its position in the AI race. After OpenAI breakthrough with its AI model, Google’s team has introduced new AI tools. One of them, called AlphaProof is designed to solve tricky maths problems, while the other, AlphaGeometry, focuses on geometry. 
Currently, Google is working on improving its Gemini AI assistant, which has a feature that can recognize objects through a phone’s camera&nbsp; 
OpenAI’s New Model 
Meanwhile, OpenAI launched “o1” in Sept 2024. The company made the model available through ChatGBT and its API, which raised some concerns at Google’s DeepMind division.&nbsp; 
The company also rolled out an exciting new “<a href="https://www.cryptotimes.io/2024/09/25/openai-launches-advanced-voice-feature-for-chatgpt-users/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Advanced Voice</a>” feature for its ChatGPT users the same month. The feature offers five voices: Arbor, Maple, SXol, Spruce, and Vale—joining older options like Breeze and Juniper 
As both companies push forward, their rivalry seems to continue, with each working to make AI even smarter.
