<a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/riot-platforms-to-boost-efficiency-with-midas-immersion-coolings/">Riot</a> Platforms has announced the construction of the !%world's largest Bitcoin mining facility% in Corsicana, <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/texas-residents-challenge-bitcoin-mining-industrys-impact-on-power-grid-and-communities/">Texas</a>. The new 265-acre site will consume up to 1 GW of <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/minnesota-man-faces-accusations-of-electricity-theft-for-bitcoin-mining/">electricity</a>, equivalent to the power usage of approximately 750,000 homes. 
Local residents have expressed concerns about potential power supply disruptions and increased electricity costs. According to the Texas Energy Commission, energy demand in the state has already risen by 5% due to <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/hut-8s-q2-2023-a-bitcoin-mining-marvel/">crypto miners</a>, with further increases expected. 
Riot Platforms representatives state that the project will create over 500 jobs and invest $500 million into the local economy. However, environmentalists warn of a significant carbon footprint and urge the use of renewable energy sources for mining operations.
