<p>In a recent statement on X, the head of marketing for Shiba Inu, under the pseudonym Lucie, emphasized that BONE would assume a critical function about Shibarium, which is SHIB’s layer-2 solution. Describing BONE as the "energy source" for the entire network, Lucie emphasized its necessity for the operational integrity and efficiency of the Shibarium platform.</p>

<p>BONE is a gas fee token within Shibarium, analogous to how gasoline powers vehicles. Lucie elucidated that the network would be akin to a car without fuel—stationary and non-functional without BONE. This analogy underlines the token’s importance in maintaining the ecosystem’s active state, ensuring that transactions and operations proceed without hindrance.</p>  
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-role-of-bone-in-token-burns"><strong>The Role of BONE in Token Burns</strong></h2>  
<p>Another critical functionality of BONE is its use in token burns, a strategy to reduce the overall supply of SHIB tokens, potentially increasing their market value over time. Lucie pointed out that a portion of every gas fee paid in BONE is earmarked for these burns. These collected BONE tokens are periodically converted into SHIB and permanently removed from circulation by being sent to unspendable wallets.</p>  
<p>Recent data from the Shibburn tracker indicates a significant uptick in SHIB burns, with an increase of 555% in the burn rate observed over the last 24 hours. This period saw over 5 million SHIB tokens incinerated across six separate transactions, with the largest single transaction eliminating over 1.1 million SHIB. This aggressive burn strategy is part of a broader effort to enhance SHIB’s scarcity and, by extension, its appeal as an investment.</p>

<p>For SHIB holders and the ecosystem’s participants, the continued burning of SHIB tokens using BONE is a positive sign.
