<p class="is-style-lead">Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, has requested a delay in starting his prison sentence, citing medical needs.</p> 
<p>Salame’s defense team <a href="https://x.com/innercitypress/status/1844022941866176817" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">has asked the court</a> to push his self-surrender date from Oct. 11 to Dec. 7, allowing him time to recover from injuries sustained <a rel="nofollow" href="https://x.com/rsalame7926/status/1807030322065818020" target="_blank">during a dog attack</a> over the summer.</p>

 <p>“On behalf of Ryan Salame, we respectfully request that the Court continue the date for Salame to voluntarily surrender to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to begin serving his sentence from Friday, October 11, 2024 to Friday, December 7, 2024, so that he may receive continuing medical treatment deemed necessary by his treating physician to recover from the injuries sustained on or about June 29, 2024.” </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="salame-s-sentencing">Salame’s sentencing&nbsp;</h2> 
<p>Salame was <a href="https://crypto.news/former-ftx-executive-ryan-salame-sentenced-to-7-5-years-in-prison/" target="_blank">sentenced</a> to seven years and five months for his role in operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business and illegal campaign financing while at FTX.</p> 
<p>This request is part of Salame’s <a href="https://crypto.news/u-s-prosecutors-seek-five-to-seven-year-sentence-for-ftxs-ryan-salame/" target="_blank">broader legal battle</a>. He has been entangled in criminal charges connected to FTX’s collapse. Salame was among the key figures involved in the exchange, though he notably did not testify in the high-profile trial of FTX founder <a href="https://crypto.news/tag/sam-bankman-fried/" target="_blank">Sam Bankman-Fried</a>.​</p> 
<p>Earlier this year, as part of his plea deal, Salame <a href="https://crypto.news/former-ftx-executive-ryan-salame-forfeits-5-9m-bahamas-mansion/" target="_blank">agreed</a> to forfeit nearly $6 million worth of assets, including a restaurant in Massachusetts.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
