<p>Talen Energy Corporation has just acquired 100% of Nautilus Cryptomine, a 200-megawatt mining farm in Pennsylvania. This operation marks a turning point in the use of nuclear energy for mining, paving the way for a greener exploitation of Bitcoin.</p>

<p>On October 3, 2024, Talen Energy, an independent power producer listed on NASDAQ, announced the purchase of the 25% stake held by TeraWulf in <a href="https://www.cointribune.com/mining-de-cryptomonnaie-aux-etats-unis-des-nouvelles-du-projet-nautilus-cryptomine/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Nautilus Cryptomine</a> for $85 million.</p>

<p>Talen Energy, which owns and operates approximately 10.7 gigawatts of power infrastructure in the United States, including 2.2 gigawatts of nuclear energy, thus strengthens its position in the <a href="https://www.cointribune.com/comment-choisir-son-materiel-de-minage-crypto/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">crypto mining sector</a>. The transaction also includes the acquisition of physical assets used in mining operations.</p>
<p>The 200-megawatt facility, located in Berwick, Pennsylvania, is now entirely under the control of Talen Energy, positioning itself as a pioneer in the energy transition within the crypto sector.</p>
<p>This initiative addresses criticisms concerning Bitcoin’s energy consumption. Indeed, nuclear energy, stable and with a low carbon footprint, offers a promising alternative to fossil fuels for crypto mining.</p>
<p>Cole Muller, Executive Vice President of Strategic Ventures at Talen, <a href="https://ir.talenenergy.com/news-releases/news-release-details/talen-energy-purchases-terawulfs-minority-share-nautilus" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">emphasizes</a> the importance of this acquisition:</p>
