He also noted the high degree of centralization of these stablecoins, particularly focusing on the industry’s two largest players, USDT and USDC, while mentioning the rising popularity of PYUSD. Regions like the European Union have introduced regulations such as the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) to guide stablecoin issuance. Furthermore, the collapse of the algorithmic stablecoin USTC associated with Terra triggered a loss of $40 billion from the market, prompting regulators to take action.
