A critic known as Dark Horse openly challenges Ripple’s leadership, including CEO Brad Garlinghouse. He questions the effectiveness of Ripple's projects like Root Network and OpenEden Tbills, arguing these initiatives benefit Ripple more than the broader XRP community.</p>

<p>The XRP Ledger has impressive operational numbers. It has processed over 600 million transactions and closed more than 33 million ledgers. The total transaction volume has exceeded $15 billion without major issues. The ledger supports 1,500 transactions per second. When using monetary channels, it can scale to tens of thousands of transactions per second, similar to traditional financial mechanisms like VISA.</p>  
<p>The firm announced plans for a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar. This&nbsp; will be fully backed by USD deposits and short-term U.S. government treasuries. Ripple wants to provide a less volatile investment option for digital asset holders. To ensure transparency, Ripple will conduct third-party audits of its backing assets and publish monthly attestations.</p>

<p>In continuing legal matters, the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit highlights speculation as a major factor affecting XRP’s value. A crucial document suggests speculation drives XRP's utility. On July 13, 2023, Judge Torres ruled that programmatic sales of Ripple&nbsp; did not meet the third requirement of the Howey Test. The <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/ripple-granted-extra-14-days-to-avoid-missing-key-sec-appeal-deadline/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">SEC’s appeal </a>was denied in October, leading to more legal complexities.</p>
