Crypto wallet provider Phantom issued an emergency update for iOS users after reports that some had their app reset, locking them out of their wallets unless they remembered their recovery phrase.&nbsp;
“We’re aware that a small number of iOS users are experiencing app resets,” Phantom <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://x.com/phantom/status/1856796137665245455" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">said</a> on X on Nov. 14 before advising those affected to restore their wallets using recovery phrases.&nbsp;
The team behind the <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/how-to-create-a-memecoin-on-solana" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">Solana-based</a> DeFi wallet added that they’ve pushed a new iOS app update to prevent this from affecting any additional users. They apologized for the inconvenience, advised securely storing seed phrases, and added, “We’re committed to making sure this won’t happen again.”

There were several responses to the notice on X from users claiming that they had lost funds, been automatically logged out or their balances had been wiped after downloading a recent Phantom update.
“I lost my 983 <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://cointelegraph.com/solana-price-index" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">SOL</a>, please send it back,” claimed one user. “I just lost my wallet holding $600K, this is my life’s worth/savings, when am I getting my reimbursements?” another wrote.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Another user <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://x.com/DefoNotHoppy/status/1856578695785283776" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">asked</a> Phantom if there was “any reason why my app reset itself and removed all my wallets overnight?”&nbsp;
Crypto trader Ace <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://x.com/HackermanAce/status/1856727138751094828" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">warned</a> 42,000 X followers not to update their Phantom wallets without having their seed phrases saved. “I don’t know why they set such a horrible update, but it wipes your wallet on iOS,” Ace added.&nbsp;
“Phantom deleting people’s wallets with the most recent update, lots of tokens are going to get burned from folks that forgot to back up keys,” <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://x.com/RocketGPT/status/1856702757769482290" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">said</a> another user.&nbsp;
Because it is a <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/tether-launches-open-source-wallet-development-kit-humans-and-ai" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">non-custodial</a> wallet, the company cannot offer much assistance to users who have lost their seed phrases as it does not store or have access to them. However, it advised contacting the support team for additional assistance.

It is not the first time the <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/malicious-bull-checker-chrome-extension-found-targeting-solana-users" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">Solana</a> wallet has had problems. In October, the wallet experienced downtime, with some users seeing inaccurate account balances.&nbsp;
At the time, Phantom said, “We’re currently experiencing an uptime incident, and some services may be temporarily disrupted” before <a data-ct-non-breakable="null" href="https://x.com/phantom/status/1850938547328745794" rel="null" target="null" text="null" title="null">rectifying</a> the situation a few hours later.&nbsp;
