On November 19, a U.S. congressional commission suggested building something similar to the Manhattan Project to step forward the growth of AI in between increasing competition with China.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The Novemberreport of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) suggested that Congress should set up and provide capital for a project similar to Manhattan which will eventually help in the progress of artificial general intelligence (AGI) capability.&nbsp; What is the Manhattan Project? 
If we talk about the Manhattan Project, it was a private research project that was responsible for developing the first nuclear bombs at the time of World War II. And, the codename for this project was Manhattan.&nbsp;
The report further went on to note that AGI systems are either as good as or better than human abilities. Also, it could take over the brightest human minds in every task assigned. USCC believes that a public-private collaboration such as the Manhattan Project will lead to stepping up AGI in the United States.&nbsp;
For this, the Commission gave various recommendations in which it specified the US Secretary of Defense to mark AI projects which holds the highest national priority.&nbsp; The strategic investment will not only help in boosting the technological expertise in the U.S. but it will also keep in mind that it remains intact within national interests.&nbsp;
The Commission says that China is continuously working on building some technological projects like AI, quantum computing, battery energy storage systems, and many more over the past few years.&nbsp;

USCC has given another recommendation to revoke trade exemptions which will permit some types of Chinese goods to avoid US tariffs.&nbsp;
