Tron founder Justin Sun, one of the most well-known and influential names in the cryptocurrency world, came to the fore again with a much-talked-about event.
Justin Sun paid $6.2 million for a piece of art featuring a banana taped to a wall at a New York auction, and now he plans to eat it.
“I bought the banana. This is not just a work of art; it represents a cultural phenomenon that connects the worlds of art, memes, and the cryptocurrency community. I will personally eat the banana in the coming days as part of this unique art experience,” Sun said in a post on his X account.

The auction started at $800,000. Sun beat out six others, adding $1 million to Sotheby's bid of $5.2 million, and paid $6.2 million for one banana.
The artwork consists of a banana bought from a regular store and taped to the wall, and the owner of the artwork is a man named Maurizio Cattelan.
Cattelan first exhibited this work, which he called “The Comedian,” in 2019 and it was sold in Miami for $120,000. The banana and tape are replaced regularly because they rot.
So Justin Sun can replace the banana as it rots and replace the tape as needed, so he also purchased instructions on how to tape a banana to the wall and a certificate of authenticity so he can call it “The Comedian.”
