<p>On the afternoon of November 21, 2024, the Sui network, a blockchain project built on the Move programming language, experienced an outage. Block production ceased at approximately 4:15 PM Vietnam time, effectively halting network activity.</p>   
<p>On-chain <a href="https://suiscan.xyz/mainnet/validators">data</a> from Sui Explorer indicated that the network had not recorded any new blocks or transactions for over an hour.</p>

<p>Preliminary <a href="https://x.com/WuBlockchain/status/1859542891296899554">reports</a> suggest the issue stemmed from validator difficulties, and the Sui team is currently investigating and working to resolve the incident.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="issue-resolved-but-comparisons-with-solana-arise">Issue Resolved, but Comparisons with Solana Arise</h2>   
<p>By the time of reporting, the Sui team <a href="https://x.com/SuiNetwork/status/1859569509687849469">announced</a> that the issue had been resolved, allowing block production to resume. The root cause was identified as a block-ordering logic error, which disrupted validator operations.</p>   
<p>However, the incident revived discussions about Sui being referred to as a "Solana Killer" or "Solana 2.0," referencing Solana's past struggles with frequent outages. The term "Solagna" has even been coined by the community to mock Solana's history of technical issues.</p>

<p>In September 2021, Solana experienced <a href="https://x.com/SolanaStatus/status/1437757547235131396">a 16-hour outage</a> that caused significant disruption and losses. The most recent Solana incident <a href="https://coincu.com/246671-solana-outage-happens-again/">occurred</a> on February 6, 2024. Since then, Solana has been operating smoothly without any major technical issues.</p>   
<p>In response to Sui's downtime, its native token (SUI) saw a sharp decline, trading around $3.40 at the time of writing. This drop reflected market reactions as news of the incident spread.</p>
