 Solana-based memecoin platform Pump.fun is under fire following allegations of harmful and violent behaviour broadcasted through its live-stream feature.

The platform, known for enabling users to promote their tokens within its community, faces calls to disable or heavily moderate the livestream feature.
The controversy erupted on November 25 when Beau, a safety project manager at NFT project Pudgy Penguins, <a href="https://x.com/beausecurity/status/1860859118124138610" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">flagged</a> a disturbing incident during a recent live stream on the platform. A user threatened to commit suicide if their token failed to reach a specific market capitalization. Beau urged the platform to intervene immediately, disable the livestream, and support the individual.&nbsp;
Beau further called for completely removing the livestream feature, describing it as “out of control.”

Reports of other alarming behaviour soon followed. One community member <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://x.com/AltcoinGordon/status/1860627600097366129" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">reported</a> an individual shooting outside a window each time a token’s value increased. Another <a href="https://x.com/danielgothits/status/1860879008000295267" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">flagged</a> a child threatening to harm family members if a token price goal was not met, while a different user allegedly <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://x.com/AltcoinGordon/status/1860954479140418043" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">threatened</a> a mass shooting if their memecoin failed to “pump.”
Some community members have described the feature as a “pipeline of felonies” and <a href="https://x.com/DancingEddie_/status/1860037461700726896" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">urged</a> Pump.fun to deactivate it until stronger moderation tools are implemented.
Alon, the platform’s pseudonymous founder, <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://x.com/a1lon9/status/1860036153249787911" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">acknowledged </a>the criticism but defended the platform’s moderation efforts. Alon stated that a team of moderators and engineers actively manages the platform, working to tackle illicit content as the platform scales. They assured users that improving moderation remains a top priority.
Meanwhile, the crypto community was rocked by a bizarre incident involving a memecoin called QUANT, created on the platform by a 13-year-old token developer. &nbsp; <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://defi-planet.com/2024/11/13-year-old-crypto-developers-rug-pull-sparks-dog-kidnapping-and-meme-coin-frenzy/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">In an alleged act of retaliation over a token rug pull</a>, an investor in the memecoin kidnapped the developer’s dog and created another memecoin named “Bari QUANT” after the canine. Reports of the abduction surfaced on X, where users shared claims that an unidentified individual admitted to stealing the pet to demand a refund and apology from the boy.&nbsp;
