<h4>Popular crypto exchange OKX has announced the launch of a <a href="https://www.altcoinbuzz.io/?s=self-custodial+wallet" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">self-custodial wallet</a> and trading platform for users in Belgium. This comes as part of the exchange’s move to increase its presence across Europe. </h4>
Crypto users in Belgium can now access the OKX wallet and OKX trading platforms. The launch also enables them to trade and swap around 200 cryptocurrencies. OKX supports around 60 trading pairs and allows users to trade against the euro.
<h5>No Direct License</h5>
OKX has not secured a direct license from Belgian regulators but instead operates in the country via “a regulated entity within the EU, without any permanent establishment in Belgium.”
OKX operates in Belgium using a Malta-registered firm, <a href="https://www.okx.com/es-la/learn/okx-mission-build-locally-europe" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Okcoin Europe</a>. To make euro deposits and withdrawals easier, OKX has teamed up with the popular payment system, Bancontact. This partnership allows Belgian customers to instantly deposit euros into their OKX accounts at no extra cost.

OKX also <a href="https://www.okx.com/es-la/help/how-do-i-deposit-eur-with-sepa-bank-transfer" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">supports</a> deposits and withdrawals through the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). SEPA is a cashless payment system used across Europe. OKX is one of the exchanges with good interfaces and verification processes. Belgian users will need to verify their accounts through the Itsme identification app before being allowed to trade on the platform. 
<h5>Crypto in Belgium</h5>
Belgium has seen an increase in crypto activities lately. However, most locals prefer stable investments over speculative assets like crypto. Erald Ghoos, OKX’s general manager of Europe, described Belgian users as “generally conservative.” Ghoos stated that Belgian users are often cautious about risks.
Earlier this year, Belgian authorities <a href="https://www.dlapiper.com/en/insights/publications/2022/12/crypto-assets-regulation-in-belgium" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">required</a> crypto exchanges and service providers to include warnings about risks associated with crypto investments. Authorities claimed the warning would help warn potential investors and protect them from misleading ads.

Belgium is not alone in seeking warnings about crypto investments. The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) <a href="https://www.altcoinbuzz.io/cryptocurrency-news/uks-fca-to-improve-surveillance-of-the-crypto-market/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">mandated firms</a> to highlight the risks involved in crypto investments to protect users.
