This dominance is largely driven by the rise of private order flow (XOF), which limits competition and reduces transaction diversity in block auctions.</p>

<p>Despite this, analysts like Ryan Lee from Bitget Research argue that the risk of centralization is minimal, pointing to ETH’s proposer-builder separation. This system ensures that proposers choose the most profitable block without the ability to prioritize specific transactions.</p> 
<p>However, concerns remain about powerful validators exploiting incentives like maximal extractable value (MEV) to exert undue influence over the network. Strengthening censorship resistance could help mitigate some of these issues.</p> 
<p>In response, BuilderNet has launched on Ethereum’s mainnet, with key operators such as Flashbots, Beaverbuild, and Nethermind involved in its development. According to Flashbots product manager <a href="https://x.com/SheaKetsdever/status/1861480598000304148" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Shea Ketsdever</a>, the initiative will later expand to offer a decentralized sequencing solution for layer-2 networks.</p>

The block builders in this platform are paid based on a “refund rule.” This ensures fair reward distribution and reduces the risk of exploitative tactics like sandwich attacks, which manipulate transaction orders for profit.</p>

Flashbots argues that centralized block-building frameworks worsen this problem by creating bottlenecks. Flashbots emphasized, <em>“The future of block building will be centralized unless we act now,”</em> underlining BuilderNet’s crucial role as a decentralized solution.</p> 
<p><em>“By decentralizing block building, we can eliminate chokepoints that foster censorship and exploit users through rent extraction,”</em> the announcement stated. This aligns with Ethereum co-creator Vitalik Buterin’s recent warnings about the centralization risks posed by the PBS model.</p>
