<p>The optimism sweeping Wall Street has led investors to pour a record-breaking $1 trillion into U.S. exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in 2024 so far, surpassing the $903 billion in 2021, setting another milestone for the industry.</p><h2 id="header-0">2024 ETF Craze Resurgence</h2><p>The market frenzy reached a fever pitch in November, fueled by the belief that the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump and its support for tax cuts would trigger further market rallies, pushing stock indices to new highs. According to Bloomberg, November was the best-performing month for the S&amp;P 500 this year, with record ETF inflows of $155 billion, averaging about $7.3 billion per day. Given there were only 21 trading days in November, this historic monthly trading volume was indeed astonishing.</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/854f721bb50747b699c1bb9e55e8b7d6.jpg" /><h2 id="header-1">More Types of ETFs on the Horizon</h2><p>The ETF craze actually started before Trump&#39;s victory, with issuers providing increasingly sophisticated strategies in their offerings. This year, actively managed funds and those utilizing derivatives or leverage to achieve returns accounted for over 80% of new fund issuances. In addition to a variety of new products, the first batch of spot Bitcoin ETFs also saw record demand. Future catalysts may include regulatory approval for the creation of more ETF share classes and alternative investments.</p><h2 id="header-2">Ethereum Spot ETF Sets Record</h2><p>According to data from SoSoValue, Ethereum spot ETFs set a record with a net inflow of $428 million on December 5. Since Trump&#39;s election win on November 5, ETH has surged by 61%, outperforming Bitcoin, due to the crypto market&#39;s rebound from expectations of more favorable regulations.</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/b99d00eb5d8947b4860a99bb60836650.jpg" /><p>The appointment of Paul Atkins as SEC Chairman by Trump has provided a boost for Ethereum. ETFs investing in this token do not allow for Ethereum staking, which reduces investor returns. Some observers anticipate that this barrier might be removed under Atkins&#39;s leadership.</p><p>Moreover, open interest in Ethereum futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange has soared to record levels, far outpacing similar contracts for Bitcoin.
