<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">BiT Global, the custodian of <strong>Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC)</strong>, has taken legal action against leading U.S.-based crypto exchange Coinbase. The lawsuit follows Coinbase’s decision to delist wBTC in November, which BiT Global claims was done to promote its own version, cbBTC.</p>

<p>In its complaint, BiT Global accused Coinbase of using wBTC as a “cash grab” before delisting it in favor of launching <strong>cbBTC</strong>, its proprietary Wrapped Bitcoin token. The company alleges that Coinbase’s actions were intended to stifle competition and devalue wBTC. Highlighting wBTC’s role as a tokenized representation of Bitcoin on Ethereum’s blockchain, BiT Global argued that the delisting violated <strong>U.S. trade laws</strong>.</p> 
<p>BiT Global further stated that Coinbase’s actions resembled anti-competitive tactics previously employed by major tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Facebook to harm competitors.</p> 
<p>“Coinbase engaged in unfair competition to achieve its monopolization goals,” BiT Global asserted.</p>

<p>On November 20, Coinbase ceased wBTC trading after conducting a review. Shortly after, the exchange launched its own version, <strong>cbBTC</strong>. As of this writing, wBTC is trading at $101,122, reflecting a 1.7% increase over the past 24 hours.</p>
