<p>Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous founder of Bitcoin, overtook Michael Bloomberg to become the world’s 16th-richest person as Bitcoin surged past $106k to a new all-time high earlier today, and coming close to Microsoft founder Bill Gates</p>
<p>The pump in the Bitcoin price to a new ATH took the value of Satoshi’s BTC hoard past $106 billion, according to a post on X by DeFi Planet.</p>

<p>While Bitcoin pared gains after hitting its new record high of $106,488.25 and <a href="https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/bitcoin" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">traded at $104,282.77</a> at 9.29 a.m. EST, the earlier ATH also took Satoshi to within a whisker of the $107 billion fortune held by Bill Gates.</p>
<h2 id="speculation-about-satoshi-s-identity-continues">Speculation About Satoshi’s Identity Continues</h2>
<p>Speculation about the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto continues, with an HBO documentary earlier in the year concluding that he might be <a href="https://insidebitcoins.com/news/peter-todd-price-prediction-petertodd-pumps-71-after-hbo-documentary-claimed-hes-bitcoin-creator-satoshi-as-traders-pivot-to-this-ico-with-3185-apy" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Peter Todd</a>. Experts warn that if Nakamoto’s identity is ever confirmed, it could trigger significant market volatility given the amount of BTC at stake.</p>
<p>Nakamoto’s fortune is still in digital wallets that are unusable without private keys to access them.</p>
<p>While the founder’s identity is still unknown, one thing is certain: Bitcoin is here to stay. Its market capitalization has surged past the $2 trillion mark, and it’s soared 75% in the last quarter alone. US-based spot Bitcoin ETFs have emerged as the largest holders of BTC, surpassing Nakamoto himself.</p>
