<p>Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek met Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Monday to talk about appointments that would affect the crypto industry, including positions in financial departments, Congress, and the new administration, said a person familiar with the meeting who asked not to be identified.</p>   
<p>The meeting by the Crypto.com CEO follows a recent phone call between Trump and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, which was reported last month by <em><a href="https://fortune.com/crypto/2024/11/19/trump-and-coinbase-ceo-speak-by-phone-a-sign-of-cryptos-new-political-clout/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fortune</a></em>.</p>   
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="trump-appoints-crypto-advocates">Trump Appoints Crypto Advocates</h2>   
<p>Trump has also tapped crypto-friendly figures for high-level positions, such as naming Cantor Fitzgerald's Howard Lutnick commerce secretary and tapping Paul Atkins to head the SEC. In perhaps an unexpected move, Trump even appointed venture capitalist <a href="https://coincu.com/250083-david-sacks-net-worth/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">David Sacks</a> to advise on both AI and crypto. It had been expected that he would have a "<a href="https://coincu.com/295587-new-crypto-czar-appointed-by-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">crypto czar</a>.”</p>   
<p>Crypto.com recently dropped a lawsuit it filed against the SEC in October after receiving a Wells notice indicating possible enforcement action. Other platforms, like Coinbase, have also clashed with regulators.</p>   
<p>Meanwhile, Trump has entered the digital-asset fray with his family's project, <a href="https://coincu.com/293815-world-liberty-financial-investment-justin-sun/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">World Liberty Financial</a>, which is focused on decentralized finance. It launched in September with $30 million in funding from entrepreneur Justin Sun.</p>
