Pepecoin ($PEP) is a meme-based cryptocurrency that traces its origins to 2015, making it one of the earliest Pepe-themed tokens to appear on-chain. The project was first introduced with the domain pepecoin.ga, which remains active to this day, providing a direct link to its original release. While another project known as Memetic/PepeCoin was launched in 2016, the 2015 version of Pepecoin predates it and is recognized as the original on-chain Pepe coin.

On September 8, 2025, Pepecoin was relaunched on the Solana blockchain, re-establishing its presence in the current meme-driven market cycle. The decision to deploy on Solana reflects the network’s high throughput, low transaction costs, and growing role as a hub for meme assets and cultural tokens.
