Secret is a global and permissionless network allowing anyone to contribute and build on its powerful infrastructure. However, Secret was founded in the USA with a majority of the core protocol development being spearheaded by US citizens, through funding from US-based companies.

The core development team, SCRT Labs was founded by Guy Zyskind, a US citizen, Former MIT researcher, and one of the most highly-cited authors on blockchain privacy. The CEO of SCRT Labs is Alex Zaidelson, who is based in Israel.

Secret targets an inflation rate of 9%, with a projected inflation rate of 9%, if less than 67% of the supply is staked, and a gradual increase to 7% when more than 67% is staked.
