Stratis is a blockchain platform designed to support decentralized applications, financial services, and blockchain-integrated products. Launched in 2016, it initially offered a full-node implementation written in C on the .NET framework—targeting enterprises seeking blockchain capabilities within familiar software stacks. Today, Stratis operates a modern, Ethereum-compatible Proof of Stake blockchain and continues to evolve its infrastructure and ecosystem to serve Web3, gaming, and financial sectors.
Platform Evolution
Stratis began as a purpose-built blockchain framework developed entirely in C#. The early architecture featured native C# smart contract support, sidechains, identity management, and tools for enterprise-grade deployments. These innovations made Stratis one of the first platforms to offer a full blockchain stack in the Microsoft ecosystem.
In response to growing developer demand for Ethereum compatibility, Stratis transitioned its core infrastructure to a fork of Go-Ethereum (Geth) and Prysm. This provided EVM support and enabled Stratis to integrate with standard Web3 tooling, while maintaining its own staking model, governance mechanisms, and native token economy.
STRAX Token Utility
The STRAX token is the native digital asset used across the Stratis blockchain. It serves as the foundation for the platform’s economic activity and security model:
Gas Fees: STRAX is required for executing smart contracts and performing transactions on the network.
Staking: Token holders can stake STRAX to help secure the network and earn rewards.
Collateral: STRAX is used as collateral in the network’s DeFi protocols (Masternodes)
Staking and Masternodes
Stratis employs a Proof of Stake consensus mechanism, allowing STRAX holders to participate in network validation by operating a validator node or delegating their tokens; in addition, the network supports Masternodes.
Staking and Masternode participation provide yield opportunities for long-term token holders, while contributing to the overall security and decentralization of the network.
Ecosystem and Products
Stratis supports a growing ecosystem of blockchain-based applications and services across event management, gaming, and financial infrastructure.
Stratis Money & EU Stablecoin
Stratis operates a regulated financial services entity in Spain under the brand Stratis Money, which is officially registered with the Bank of Spain as a crypto asset service provider. This regulatory approval allows Stratis to offer compliant digital asset services within the European Union.
Building on this foundation, Stratis is developing a stablecoin solution focused on the EU market. The stablecoin aims to align with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) framework and is designed to facilitate secure, transparent, and compliant payments and remittances within regulated environments.
Development and Community
Stratis maintains open-source repositories on GitHub and provides extensive documentation for developers. The platform supports EVM-based smart contracts, Web3 integrations, and developer tools designed to reduce friction in onboarding.
The Stratis community is active across forums, social media channels, and chat platforms. The project regularly publishes technical updates and supports community-driven governance and participation.
