Blockchain.com is one of the early pioneers of key infrastructure for the Bitcoin community. It is associated with various projects: Blockchain Explorer that allows anyone to examine transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain, a robust API for companies that wish to build on Bitcoin, and its popular crypto wallet. Since its launch in 2011, the company has transacted over $1 trillion in crypto.
Interestingly, about one-third of all Bitcoin network transactions are via Blockchain.com. As of October 2022, the company had about 37 million verified users who created more than 80 million wallets.
Who Are the Founders of Blockchain.com?
Formerly known as Blockchain.info, the cryptocurrency financial services company began its operations as a Bitcoin blockchain explorer. It was founded in August 2011. Benjamin Reeves, Nicolas Cary, and Peter Smith were among the people who developed its core projects.
Prior to creating the website for tracking Bitcoin transactions, Reeves obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, and Operations at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University in 2009. He went on to achieve a first-class Master’s degree in Computer Science and became a mobile developer at Engine Room Apps in 2010. He was also the CEO of Qkos Services Ltd, a software development company that dissolved in 2014.
As for Cary, he studied Business at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, between 2003 and 2007 before working as a partner and manager of customer operations at PipelineDeals until 2013. Meanwhile, Smith obtained a degree from the University of London and has been part of the UK Finance board.
When Did Blockchain.com Launch?
Bitcoin blockchain explorer launched in August 2011. But it wasn’t until July 2019 that the firm launched its cryptocurrency exchange.
