What is Robinhood?
Robinhood is an investment and trading platform that aims to democratize finance for all. The user-friendly Robinhood app is one of the lowest cost platforms for trading cryptocurrencies.
In the U.S., Robinhood Crypto was established in February 2018, initially allowing Robinhood customers to trade Bitcoin and Ether. The list of tradable cryptocurrencies has since expanded to include more than 20 assets. Today, Robinhood Crypto is available in all 50 states, and territories including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In Europe, Robinhood Crypto launched in December 2023. Today, the platform allows customers to buy and sell 40+ cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, USDC, and many others. Robinhood offers one of the lowest costs to trade crypto on average in the region.
Staking is also supported on Robinhood Crypto in Europe, where users can earn rewards by staking their crypto. The process varies slightly depending on the network and crypto you choose, each having its own requirements and bonding periods. Robinhood Crypto supports ETH and SOL staking.
Crypto transfers are available for users in the U.S. and Europe, allowing them to send crypto to Robinhood or transfer it from their Robinhood account to other wallets. The process is secure, easy to use, and users are not charged deposit or withdrawal fees (network fees still apply).
Robinhood Wallet is a self-custody web3 wallet where users can manage thousands of crypto assets, perform multi-chain swaps, store and display NFTs, and protect assets with encryption and biometric authentication. It also features a browser where users can connect to dapps (decentralized apps) that span DeFi (decentralized finance), social, and more. The wallet supports assets on a variety of networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Arbitrum, and Optimism. Robinhood Wallet users can also swap crypto without paying network fees (also known as ‘gasless swaps’) and cross-chain swaps with no platform fees (though other fees may apply).
