Mysterium Network is an open-source ecosystem of protocols, tools, and Web3 infrastructure making the internet borderless and accessible for all. The network gives both users and builders the tools they need to safeguard their online anonymity and equal access to information. Mysterium held a token sale through which it raised $14 million CHF.

Mysterium is powered by its permissionless, peer-to-peer network. Anyone can turn their device into a node and rent their spare internet resources, such as bandwidth or IP address, in exchange for cryptocurrency. The network is tamper-proof, anonymous, and encrypted like Tor, but with superior usability, stability and speed.

Mysterium’s B2B Network-as-a-Service lays the groundwork for all kinds of enterprise-level services to be built, including the project's flagship product, the Mysterium VPN, available for Android, Windows, Mac and Linux (iOS in 2022). Developers and entrepreneurs can build private, censorship-resistant tools, and businesses can make their products globally accessible and secure. Helium (HNT) revolutionizes connectivity by establishing a decentralized wireless network for the Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile cellular traffic. At the heart of Helium's innovation are Hotspots, devices that act as miniature cell towers, enabling users to earn HNT by providing network coverage. This model shifts infrastructure ownership from traditional telecom giants to individuals, fostering a community-driven approach.

Built on the Solana blockchain, Helium benefits from low fees and fast transactions. The network's decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) supports various use cases, from mobile coverage to IoT applications. Helium Mobile, a U.S.-based carrier, combines the network with nationwide 5G, offering broader coverage and reduced deployment costs. Major telecom providers like AT&T leverage Helium for network offload, enhancing service in high-traffic areas.

HNT serves multiple roles within the ecosystem. It is burned to create Data Credits, essential for network usage, and incentivizes Hotspot operators through rewards. Kaspa is a fast, scalable Layer-1 cryptocurrency built on proof-of-work (PoW) and powered by the GHOSTDAG protocol — a novel consensus mechanism that extends Nakamoto’s original design. Unlike traditional blockchains that discard competing blocks, GHOSTDAG allows parallel blocks to coexist and orders them within a Directed Acyclic Graph (blockDAG), enabling high throughput while preserving decentralization and security.
Kaspa currently processes 10 blocks per second, with a long-term goal of scaling to 100 blocks per second, offering confirmation times limited only by internet latency. Chia Network (XCH) is a layer 1 blockchain that uses its own custom-designed programming language called Chialisp and a novel consensus mechanism called proof-of-space-and-time (PoST). Streamr (DATA) is an open source project and decentralized platform that relies on cryptography instead of trust. It is a P2P, real-time data infrastructure that houses a platform and tools for a new data economy. The technology stack includes a scalable real-time messaging network (pub/sub) hosted on computers worldwide, a marketplace for trading/selling data and a set of tools for working with real-time data.

Streamr (DATA) was crowdfunded in 2017. The main idea is to create decentralized infrastructure and data economy; the mission was formulated by the developers as “Unstoppable Data for Unstoppable Apps.” Streamr tokenizes the value of real-time information and makes it available on their marketplace and data unions. This is built for DApps, IoT devices and more, and they believe this is a crucial protocol for Web 3.0.

The tasks of Streamr DATA coin include creating a comfortable and prosperous information market, which is built on the basis of a data exchange network that is convenient and understandable for users. How it works: the decentralized pub/sub network is supported by nodes around the world, who earn DATA tokens in exchange for the bandwidth and validation they provide.

The competitive advantage lies in the fact that it is an off-chain network (for example, when compared to a similar IOTA service). Therefore, the risk that the project will face scalability and bandwidth issues is modest. The intention of the Streamr team is not to create some special blockchain, but to focus on the development of network optimization technologies.
